Course Description

Dates will be available soon for this course.

RYA Intermediate Powerboat Course

The RYA Intermediate Powerboat Course is also known as the Powerboat Day Cruising Course and is aimed at those who have a season of boating or more behind them, you probably already have completed a Powerboat Level 2 and want to learn more about coastal cruising. It focuses on navigation and passage planning.

This is a two-day Course running from 9 till 5 pm.

Course Aim: To teach powerboating up to the standard required to complete a short coastal passage by day. In essence this powerboat intermediate course aims to introduce those boaters who have previously stayed ‘close to home’ to travel that bit further and undertake short coastal passages.

Candidates should be competent to the standard of a Level 2 Powerboat course (including the coastal endorsement). Whilst the course does include time on developing your boat handling we will not have time to develop basic techniques. It is recommended that attendees acquire an RYA First Aid certificate and VHF operators licence before or just after attending this course.

The RYA teaching ratio on the powerboat intermediate course is 1 Instructor to 3 students on one boat. We can sometimes run multiple boats on intermediate courses.

The minimum age is 16 years of age. Children over 16 (and under 18) can attend a course at any time but we must have the parent/guardian’s specific permission, please call us to discuss.
