RYA POWERBOAT LEVEL 1 COURSE (PBL1) - £199
Course Description
Powerboat Level 1 – One day Course.
A Powerboat career starts often at an early age and at ABC, the Powerboat Level 1 course is primarily aimed at those who are complete novices, nervous or beginner students or children. The age limit for this course with regards to children, is 8 years of age or above. The Instructor to student ratio is 3:1 and if a young child has been booked on a course, the ABC child protection policy states that there will also be a parent on the course. A child aged 12 or over can attend alone with parental consent. Adults can book a course purely for themselves, but there would be a premium charge for one to one tuition on a Powerboat level 1 course.
Boat – PBL1
At present ABC has a 7.8 metre Ribcraft RIB (Equinox) with a 250hp engine and careful considerations will be explained to parents about the size of this vessel and a child’s capabilities and learning on such a craft.
The children will of course be well looked after and guided every step of the way to ensure safety is complied with at all times.
Instructor for Powerboat Level 1 – PBL1
We have both male and female Instructors at Aboard Boat Coaching. The Instructor must be qualified to teach the PBL1 course, have personal liability Insurance in addition to the centres insurance, they are encouraged to have completed the Fun & Safe RYA course and have a current DBS certificate or reference in line with the ABC Child Protection Policy. The Instructor must have an in date SRC Radio Certificate and RYA First Aid Certificate (or be an RYA First Aid Instructor). The Instructor running the PBL1 Course will (at all times), have another kill cord fitted in addition to the students kill cord if children are at the helm.
