To view more dates, click on the month and select a date beyond the last course date shown.
There is no boating experience required for the Powerboat Level 2 course and it is aimed mostly at adults wishing to learn about boating, who wish to achieve a recognised qualification or are looking towards a career at sea or on the water.
Subject to certain criteria you can also apply for an International Certificate of Competence (ICC) on completion of this course that allows you to charter vessels in both the UK and abroad up to an overall length of 10 metres. Students may have been boating all their lives but have decided to take a course to learn more about safe practices. PBL2 is ideal for this purpose and should be taken in conjunction with the RYA publication “Start Powerboating” and indeed the publication is given free of charge with every course.
The age limit for this course, is 12 years of age provided a parent has given consent (ABC Child Protection Policy). The Instructor to student ratio is 3:1 and you do not need the Powerboat level 1 qualification first.
There is a small degree of Navigational input on this course and students in general are expected to have a good attention span in order to take in all the information taught, during the PBL2 course.
The Powerboat level two Course offered by ABC is likely to be the most popular Course run by ABC and as such will demand consistent Instructor tuition from each Instructor and it will often be overseen by the Chief Instructor to ensure standards are kept high.
Boat Used
The Course is conducted on our 7.8 metre Ribcraft RHIB “Equinox” that has a 250 hp engine. This has a huge range of power and exhilarating performance. The boat is YDSA coded for 10 persons.
